October 2001

There is only one word to describe the conditions for Octobers launch - Perfect. Hours of absolutely no or almost no wind, mild temperatures and clear blue skies. It just doesn't get any better than this. Saturday afternoon Corkey Story sent a message to the rest of the fliers when he launched his modified Estes Phoenix on ..not an E, not an F, no, not even a G, but an H128. It roared off the pad, took what seemed like forever to come back into sight and ended up landing right in the middle of the runway between the launch pad and the LCO table. After that, the phrase for the weekend became "if not now, then when?" Thanks to the fliers who made it a great weekend and to Mr. Squib Williams for allowing us to fly from his property. Here are some photos from the weekend.
