The Saturn Rocketry Club in Hendersonville is currently switching their launch field. As soon as we know where they land we will post it. Their FB site is HERE

Set-up starts at about 9:30, launches commence about 10:30. Field closes about 60 min. before local dusk so we can clean up. Watch the site front page for specifics. Also visit us on FaceBook. You can also check for the FAA NOTAM at https://notams.aim.faa.gov/notamSearch/nsapp.html#/ and using KCLT (Charlotte) as the location. This will give you the starting and ending times for HP flights.

* If field is available due to crops, etc.

DOT Regulations

You did it! The over-1000 letters and email messages that you to the Department of Transportation worked. They are not going to rescind the special shipping exemption that would make it harder to transport black-powder motors through carriers like UPS and Fed-EX. This means that black powder motors can still be shipped as a "Flammable Solid" rather than as "Explosive 1.4" which requires an additional HAZMAT fee. This keeps the price of small motors low, since they won't need to be shipped the expensive way.

The NAR just put out this good news in their latest edition of the "Electronic Rocketeer." It is not up on the NAR web site just yet, but it should be up shortly. This is really GREAT news!

Thank you for your efforts to stave off more unnecessary government regulations. You are a big part of the success of this victory. For that, I'm thankful!

Any idea exactly /when/ this change will translate into vendors no longer being required to ship with the hazmat shipping fees?
