Upcoming Launch Schedule

ROCC 2024-2025 Launch Schedule:

NO launch in May due to the wheat. We hope to fly in June.

All launches are at the Midland, NC site unless otherwise stated.*

Here are some other launch opportunities in our area:

ICBM & ROSCO, better known as Rocketry South Carolina, flies near Dalzelle, SC., Just NE of Shaw AFB.  More information can be gotten at their site HERE

The Saturn Rocketry Club in Hendersonville is currently switching their launch field. As soon as we know where they land we will post it. Their FB site is HERE

NC Rocketry flies at Bayboro, NC in the northeast part of the state, information is HERE

Set-up starts at about 9:30, launches commence about 10:30. Field closes about 60 min. before local dusk so we can clean up. Watch the site front page for specifics. Also visit us on FaceBook. You can also check for the FAA NOTAM at https://notams.aim.faa.gov/notamSearch/nsapp.html#/ and using KCLT (Charlotte) as the location. This will give you the starting and ending times for HP flights.

* If field is available due to crops, etc.

I am interested in attending one of the Orangeburg launches but would like a little more information or some basic information on the format of their meets.
Are these competition type meets for NAR point standings? Do I need to register as a member first or is the ROCC connected? Is it an, "anything goes" type launch meet?
Any information would be helpful.
Thanks!

I've been to Orangeburg a few times (Freedom Launch, SCIPower mainly). Great group of folks, good field (though not as large as Bayboro, NC by any measure), good equipment including a PA system. As long as you're a NAR or Tripoli member, you should pretty much be good to go, and it's run pretty much like other launches I've been to, including ROCC/Midland: You'll show up, get registered, pay the launch fees for the day/weekend, get some launch cards, and once you have your first one ready to fly, visit the RSO for a safety check with launch card in-hand, then queue up with the LCO to hit the pads.

bring bug repellant - it's a sod farm, so there's a lot of watering. which means lots of gnats and mosquitos.

Hi Barb.
I've also gone to O'Burg many times.
its basicly a open "Sport" launch Saurday and Sunday with "Experimental" launch's holiday monday.
They have recently allowed non-Experimental fliers to fly Monday up to their Cert level, certified engines only.
I have seen some NAR fliers get official flights recorded for a NAR "Bronze" "Silver" "Gold" award goals. but they usually had to have made arrangements in advance for officals to be present or ask around for a NAR offical to help you out.
Even if you arn't flying anything Monday, its worth the time to hang around to watch the "Experimental" flights Monday.
Its slower and more laid back pace with more times between flights, but because its "Experimental" you can usually expect some excitement.

OK, I see I should have clarified that I was writing about the annual "Freedom Launch" Labor day Holiday weekend in September.
Their regular monthly 2nd weekend Launch is pretty much like ours. Open Sport launch's unless they have something special lined up.
Check the Web Site for details.
