Upcoming Launch Schedule

ROCC 2024-2025 Launch Schedule:

NO launch in May due to the wheat. We hope to fly in June.

All launches are at the Midland, NC site unless otherwise stated.*

Here are some other launch opportunities in our area:

ICBM & ROSCO, better known as Rocketry South Carolina, flies near Dalzelle, SC., Just NE of Shaw AFB.  More information can be gotten at their site HERE

The Saturn Rocketry Club in Hendersonville is currently switching their launch field. As soon as we know where they land we will post it. Their FB site is HERE

NC Rocketry flies at Bayboro, NC in the northeast part of the state, information is HERE

Set-up starts at about 9:30, launches commence about 10:30. Field closes about 60 min. before local dusk so we can clean up. Watch the site front page for specifics. Also visit us on FaceBook. You can also check for the FAA NOTAM at https://notams.aim.faa.gov/notamSearch/nsapp.html#/ and using KCLT (Charlotte) as the location. This will give you the starting and ending times for HP flights.

* If field is available due to crops, etc.

Hello Everyone, I'm back up and running on the Tripoli Level II written test. I finally got the current test books! If you're needing to take the Level II test please let me know asap.
My time will be limited this weekend, but plan on being at the farm this Saturday morning until 12:30ish.
If that doesn't work we can certainly meet up in the Concord area and I can administer the test.
Message me on Facebook if you need to take the Level II written test and let's make a plan!

WHEN ENTERING THE FARM, PLEASE MAKE SURE TO DRIVE ON THE SIDE OF THE RUNWAY AND PLEASE DRIVE SLOW!

When: December 16 & 17, 2017 *have to keep an eye on Sundays weather.

Where: The Williams Farm. See Web Site for directions if you are new.

Set Up: Volunteers show up at 9:30 am to help setup.

Launch Start: As soon as set-up is complete.

Launch Ends: Approximately 4ish PM so we have some light to close by.

Ken Allen, with Performance Hobbies is scheduled to be at the farm on Sunday only.

No Food will be available at the farm.

Any pictures you take from any recent or upcoming launch that you would like to get posted on the web site for our embarrassment and your entertainment, just contact Doc Russell at: rocketrycarolina@gmail.com. (Remember to make the appropriate substitutions... we don't like spam bots!) Or, as some have done, pass it on a disk or flash drive. We can always get it back to you. We are continuing with our Range Safety standards by making specific assignments:

RSO/ LCO = Range Safety Officer to pre-inspect rockets before flights
combined with the Launch Control Officer to check range conditions and control the launch’s in a timely and efficient manner. Check both the WEB site and at the launch for info on volunteering. It’s great for anybody who isn’t flying that day but wants to take part anyway. It’s fun to push the little red button.

ROCC Club Memberships. Memberships run Jan to Jan with the drive starting in Oct for the new coming year. Onsite: See our Membership Officer Jason Pettler. For MAIL-IN: See the web site for downloadable membership forms and e-mail address.

**** Mr Simpson Rules - These are very easy rules to follow, some might say common sense. Read them, memorize them, print them off. Whatever it takes to make sure you follow them exactly. If you have any questions ask before you do anything.

1). Nobody steps foot on Mr Simpsons property without a board member with them. Board Members: John, Ralph, Roy, Doc, Charlie. I can tell you from experience that if you choose to go on his property without a board member things will most likely not go well for you.
2). Under no circumstance does your vehicle go any further than his driveway, walking from that point is required.
3). If your rocket lands on his property you are not allowed to climb over his fence that separates his property from Kips. You must go around and enter the front of his property. SEE RULES # 1 & 2. If Mr Simpson catches you climbing his fence, again it's not going to go well for you. If I catch you climbing his fence you will be asked to leave the farm. Again this rule is well known.
4). If your rocket lands on his property you must retrieve it. He has live stock that might be tempted to eat the rocket and could cause problems. So no wimping out.
5). Here's the ultimate common sense guideline. If the wind is blowing strong towards Mr Simpsons property stop a think about what rocket/motor combo you are choosing. In other words, try keeping it on the farm. RSO's will be paying closer attention this year with those wind conditions, so be prepared to answer some key questions.
6). I had to save a couple of guys from Mr Simpson last year. Let me tell you he gets very chippy in a hurry when he feels his rules have been broken. This years going to be different because I'm going to be more concerned with saving myself. :) With that being said, lets have some fun!

President: Ralph Roberts
VP/Launch Equipment: Doc
Treasurer: John Bergsmith
Secretary: Louise & Roy

Board Members 2018

Board Members 2018

Good Morning,

I spoke to all of the current Board Members and everyone, with the exception of President, are willing to carry on for at least another year 2018. I will be carrying on in the roles of NAR/Tripoli Prefect in 2018, but not as President. We will have a vote on the current lineup for 2018, and a new President during the 12/16, 17 launch weekend, or online depending on weather.

President: Open
VP/Launch Equipment: Doc
Treasurer: Roy
Secretary: Louise
Membership: Jason
NAR: John Bergsmith
Tripoli Prefect: John Bergsmith
Tripoli Secretary: Doug
Community Relations: Laura
Advisors: Ralph, Charlie O

My Presidency will end on 12/31/17. We need a new person to step up and carry the club forward. Nominations will be accepted either online or this weekend. For the club to remain healthy we need new people to step up and bring new ideas to the table. I have certainly enjoyed my time as President and look forward to seeing what the next person will do.

If a new President isn't found prior to 12/31/17, the VP would take over the role until a replacement is found. I really don't want Doc put in this position so we need the next person to step up and take over.

Thanks
John

Everyone please be careful driving on Thanksgiving and have a happy and safe holiday.

If you're looking for something crazy, check out this guy's webcast on the 25th...

April 22 & 23 Launch - Update 2

Update Saturday evening:  Weather forecast for Sunday is calling for rain starting over night, Sunday launch is scrubbed.

April 22 & 23 Launch - Update

At this point the weather only looks good for Saturday. Because of the crop growth, we won't have the option of pushing back a week in hopes of better weather. So we will go with whatever the weather allows which at this point looks like Saturday only. The night launch, and Saturday night camp out are cancelled unless the weather forecast changes. This could easily happen so stay tuned for updates.

Saturday Ralph will be doing his BBQ, roughly 24 pounds of it. Let me give you some advice, don't miss out on it!!!

You can camp out Friday night if you want, just let me know if you are planning on doing that.

Again, the weather can easily change so please stay tuned for updates during the week.

John
