Upcoming Launch Schedule

ROCC 2024-2025 Launch Schedule:

NO launch in May due to the wheat. We hope to fly in June.

All launches are at the Midland, NC site unless otherwise stated.*

Here are some other launch opportunities in our area:

ICBM & ROSCO, better known as Rocketry South Carolina, flies near Dalzelle, SC., Just NE of Shaw AFB.  More information can be gotten at their site HERE

The Saturn Rocketry Club in Hendersonville is currently switching their launch field. As soon as we know where they land we will post it. Their FB site is HERE

NC Rocketry flies at Bayboro, NC in the northeast part of the state, information is HERE

Set-up starts at about 9:30, launches commence about 10:30. Field closes about 60 min. before local dusk so we can clean up. Watch the site front page for specifics. Also visit us on FaceBook. You can also check for the FAA NOTAM at https://notams.aim.faa.gov/notamSearch/nsapp.html#/ and using KCLT (Charlotte) as the location. This will give you the starting and ending times for HP flights.

Jason will have food and drinks
Burgers, bratwurst, and hot dogs. Also chips, soft drinks and waters

When : Saturday, March 21, and Sunday, March 22, 2015
Where : The Williams Farm. See Web Site for directions if you are new.

Ken Allen, Performance Hobbies is scheduled to be at the farm on Sunday, March 22 only.
Remember that this is a working farm and it is the winter season. Dress accordingly, sturdy, warm shoes and suggest you dress in layers so you can take layers off and on as the temperature changes. When the sun is shining at the farm it is like a solar collector out there with the open field so it can be 10 degrees warmer when the sun is clear than in the city.
Anyone who runs a Grill or Fire-Pit is responsible to have a separate fire extinguishing system of their own on hand at your site.
Pictures. WE Want More.
Any pictures you take from any recent or upcoming launch that you would like to get posted on the web site for our embarrassment and your entertainment, just contact Doc Russell at: rocketrycarolina@gmail.com. (Remember to make the appropriate substitutions... we don't like spam bots!) Or, as some have done, pass it on a disk or flash drive. We can always get it back to you.
We are continuing with our Range Safety standards by making specific assignments:
RSO/ LCO = Range Safety Officer to pre-inspect rockets before flights combined with the Launch Control Officer to check range conditions and control the launch’s in a timely and efficient manner.
Check both the WEB site and at the launch for info on volunteering.
It’s great for anybody who isn’t flying that day but wants to take part anyway. And it’s fun to push the little red button.

March 8, 2015 Was Awesome!!!!!

Awesome launch yesterday! The weather was perfect, and we had an excellent turnout. I wanted to thank everyone who came out and helped in all the various areas that we need to make the day successful.
Congratulations to Liam Thrower on his successful Level 1 flight! He did an excellent job with both the build and flight.
Most importantly thanks to Jason Pettler, and family, for providing food for lunch!

March 7 & 8, 2015 Launch Update

We find ourselves in a familiar spot once again. We have a 100% chance of rain tomorrow, and depending on how much we get we could run into the runway being too wet. The good thing is Friday through Sunday will be perfect weather for launching if the field will support us.
So my thoughts are that it will need to make the call Friday before 12pm based on Ralph speaking with Kip. If Saturday is a no go, maybe the field will be ok for a Sunday only launch.
Keep checking back for more updates, particularly Friday afternoon.
Thanks
John

Don't forget that we also have a Facebook Page @ Rocketry Of Central Carolina - ROCC. Request to join, and I'll let you in!

A few things

1. We need people to sign up for LCO, (level 1 minimum) and RSO (level two minimum). So please come up to the front table and sign up for a shift. Again, we keep having the same 3 or 4 people signing up every launch so we need others to contribute.
2. It's membership renewal time. Please see Jason Pettler tomorrow and get yourself current. The goal is to have as many people that fly with us on a regular basis either renewal, or become members.

3. Elections will be held tomorrow. All the current officers have volunteered to serve again in 2015 with the exception of Sandy. We also need to vote on making the new Community Relations position that I started a few months ago a permanent. This position is currently held by Laura Owens-Bailey, and will be through at least 2015.
