Launch This Weekend

Everyone:
The December Launch is a go at Williams Farm this coming weekend Dec 17th and 18th.
I know it is the holiday season and we are all very busy, however, give yourself a little break and come out if not for just a little bit.
We will have Estes rocket kit give-a-ways all day. Steve donated a bunch of kits last month and we want to give them away for Christmas.
We will have a Christmas card for the Williams family so please come by and sign it. Ms Williams has been real nice to give me some pecans and other vegetables throughout the year, I would like to return the favor and bake them something. I may make them one of my Mom's award winning Rum pound cakes, I think the may like that.
Also the 2006 membership drive has begun, please Renew or join in. We will also have the T-Shirts for sale, they would make a nice Christmas gift for that special rocketeer in the family. Sizes from Youth Med to Adult 2XL.
We will start the launch at 11:00AM to extend the day.
So we will be running the launch from 11:00AM to 5:00PM each day.
Setup is at 10:30AM.
We will not have the Porta-A-Jon at this launch, we were concerned with having enough turn-out to afford both launch fees and rental. The Hess station at Hwy 24/27 and Hwy 601 is only 5 minutes away. There is also a Exxon station at the corner of HWY 218 and HWY 601 just a few miles south of Kiser Road.
We need as many people as we can to make our flyer fee goal. Last month we had a lot of flyers however we still came up short. We need everyone and their donations so please contribute if you fly. At least try to make it out for a little bit. Remember our recommended donation is $8.00-$10.00 per flyer per day, families with lots of young flyers maybe a $10.00 donation would be good. Again, these are recommendations not harden rule. The requested weekend land fee from the land owner is $250, so we need everyone to drop a little something in the jar.
Anyone needing to certify, please contact me ahead of time. Todd Haring can arrange to have the Level 2 NAR test delivered to the field and we can have others administer the test.
OK, last month I promised a meeting but we got so busy flying because conditions were perfect I forgot to have it, however we must have one this month. Anyone wanting to run for club officers please step up. If we have enough nominees will we hold a straw vote in January with positions to take effect immediately in January.
There will be a short meeting each day at 3:00pm to discuss nominations for ROCC club officers for 2006, Please, please volunteer to help! Myself, Roy and Steve have been towing the line for a long time.
There was some interest in having another NAR contest as early as the Feb launch, we need to finalize what contest we want.
(Bob B, if you could make a recommended list, that maybe a good start.)
We also need to discuss schedules and hopefully get started on a 2006 summer flying site.
It will be cool so dress in layers. Layers are good, as most of us know, the field in the sun acts like a solar collector, so it can be cold in the clouds, or warm in the sun. We have flown in winter before and has worked out pretty well. Last month was perfect both days for flying, we lost no rockets.
Projected temps are=
Sat- 31 deg at dawn to a afternoon high of 49. Mostly Cloudy
Sun- 28 deg at dawn to a afternoon high of 48, 30 % chance of a shower.
Subject to change daily.
