Saturday (Feb. 24) is a Go

Be pre-paired all ye Rocket Junkies.
We have a Rocket Launch, make-up launch this weekend, 24-25 February. ROCC Prez Ralph arranged with Mr.Kip Williams to let us come back out to the farm this weekend to have another launch. To give us another chance to fly under better conditions than last weekend. Unless Mr. Kip is actually working the fields, it is usually not a problem. So, anybody who wants a second chance to do some flying, come on out. Ralph and a few of the rest of us plan on getting out there early to get the range setup and flights can start as soon as setup is complete. Earlier, it looked like Sunday would be OK until later in the afternoon, but the weatherman just can't seen to makeup his mind on when the rain front is to move into the area.So we will fly Saturday and make a weather decision Saturday evening, so check your e-mail, or ROCC website, late that night or Sunday morning.
Saturday is really looking good, so those who come out can expect some good flying conditions.
On another note, the club treasury (made up from ROCC memberships) is pretty low after paying for the porta-john, and the annual NAR and Tripoli rocketry association dues and insurance. Donations into the jar on the flight table is the gratuity to the land owner in appreciation for the use of his land. He requests about $250 a month. Any amount over the land use fee goes to the porta-john with the balance from the treasury. Usually we don't have much if any left over. The treasury is made up from specific donations to the club and club memberships. This covers the above mentioned annual fees and the maintenance and replacement of supplies and equipment.
So, I am going to sponsor a raffle, all proceeds to the club. What I have is a large rocket, fully equipped, and with some sanding, primer, and a new coat of paint it can be your new pride and joy. It stands 7 feet 2 inch's tall, with a 4 inch bodytube, with 3 fins. It separates in the middle providing a large upper cargo section, each section having a 36 inch chute. It weighs in at only 4 pounds and 8 ounces, without engines. It has a 29 mm seven engine cluster, last flown with a G80 in the middle surrounded by six F100's. It comes with six engine plugs so you can fly it with only the center engine, or the center with two on the side, four on the side or any configuration you may want.
Tickets will be $1.00 each, the rocket will be bought out next few launch's so you can check it out.
Ok, so I hope to see a bunch of you out at the pads this weekend, we can shoot the breeze between shots about the upcoming Oscars or Brittany's Spears latest activities, but definitely get some good launch's up and into the blue.
See you on the pad, and remember to keep your exhaust nozzles clear.
Roy, ROCC Sec.
