January 2007 Launch Report

Here is the Post-Launch Rocket report for the flight month of January, the first of the New Year, 2007.

Before we have our second launch for the year, I should get out the post-launch report for January. It was a good weekend overall. Saturday we had a good turnout dispite what many thought would be adverse weather conditions.

Roy Potter, I had to leave early so I mostly concentrated on assisting at the launch table. So I only got the Sounder up.

Emily Nelson, flew her Tortuga Twins rocket a couple of times.

Ralph Roberts, flew his Patriot as the first flight of the day to start off a great Saturday launch. Mr. Pringles flew twice with those long burning Ellis Mountain engines, once landing in the neighbors cattlefield, and the mighty Fear Factor with a successful separation at apogee and main chute deployment at 300 ft.

Terry Baucom, flew a multi-stager called the 2 Stage but the 2nd engine did not ignite, but the soft field saved the upper stage to fly again and a Fat Boy and a LOC IV.

Phil Trainor, flew a Intimitator and the G Force.

Doc Russell, flew the Ariel, his Pterodactyl flew twice, once as the first highpower of the day and a rocket named the IO.

John Hubben and Alex, flew a Shuttle Express twice with two gliders launched at ejection, one really had a good glide ratio and flew for quite a while, and a Baby Bertha.

Brad Lowe, flew a Outlaw.

Bob Bernatchez , out of his extensive collection flew Juno I, Pathfinder, Big Brute, NCR Quasar NG, Mercury Atlas and a Titan III E.

Corky Story, flew his Honest John and a Strong Arm.

Drew Baucom, flew a Big Daddy.

Brandon Hunt, flew a RTF Estes X-15.

Brad Shea, flew a new rocket named the Funnel Rocket for its heads-up first flight.

Todd Haring, flew the Little O III, and a upscaled Der Red Max.

Kevin Cook, flew a AGM-256 for his Level one certification flight, I dont have a note on the flight slip on wheather it was good or not, Hope So.

Caleb Knight, launched the Launchstar and a new Estes plastic RTF PortaPotty rocket.

Micah Knight, also had and flew a X-15 for its first flight which always looks cool under acceleration.

Doug and Micah Knight, flew a Mongoose 2 stager for its first flight.

Doug Knight, tried to fly his Polaris but the Aerotech single use engine blew the exhaust nozzle not to be found except for the grain.

Ben Weisel, flew a Estes Astro Cam, hope everyone smiled for the camera and a Dragonnite.

Jim Weisel, got a Chrome Dome Modified into a 24mm two stager up. Multi stagers look so cool when they work.

Hayden Weisel, flew a RTF Metalizer about 3 times.

Alex, flew the Sizzler twice with one tree landing. Recovered I believe.

Louise Ferrell, flew a Big Betty a couple of times and then the Eagle.

Mark Ferrell, was able to get up his Lil Nuke and a PML Phantom.

Marc Canepa, Had one of the bigger flights of the day with the old and trust worthy Seen Better Days.

Steve Bumgarner, flew the Pleiades once with no problem and the other flight it blew the nozzle retaining ring just as it was at the top of the rod and was left hanging-up at the top of the rod, a first that I know of. Also flown was the Harpoon the Black Beauty and one of the big flights of the day with the Silver Bullet.

John Lucas, flew the Rubicon and a Blue Ninja.

David, flew a rocket named the Outlaw about 4 times.

Sarah, didnt put down her last name, flew a Sizzler.

Number of Flyers, 30

Number of Launches, 65 not bad .

Sun. Rocket Launch

The weather was a bit better I think, but as with many Sundays, its usually a lighter attendance, but we do also get a lot of fliers who had to work Saturday.

Brad Shea, back out again, flew the Little Guy and the Hot Needle of Twaring, hope I got the spelling right there, but it went up with a altimeter to do its first dual deployment flight, was that the extended red and white tubular candy cane rocket? He also flew a Firehawk.

Roy Potter, I flew the Whistler twice, once as the first flight for Sunday, and then the Sounder to tryout the new chute Steve made for me out of a formally colorful umbrella, very pretty.

Bob Bernatchez, brought out his collection with the Sidewinder, Mercury Atlas and Mercury Redstone.

Michael Yenik, flew a Patriot and one called the Enterprise, not the TV one.

Josh Wilson, flew the ever popular Patriot.

Ralph Roberts, had time to fly his Initiator, Big Bertha and a little AMR-UFO saucer.

Sarah Weisel, flew one named the Dragonite.

Marc Ferrell, flew a HV ARCAS.

Ryan and Matthew Cook, flew the Oracle.

Number of Flyers, 10

Number of Launches, 18 a lazy easy going Sunday launch.

Everyone interested be sure to sign up for launch control duty on the sign-in sheet. That way everyone gets a chance to fly without being on the flight table all day.

Remember to keep those exhaust nozzles clear, see you later on the pads.

Roy.
