State of the Prefect address

Everyone:
As we approach our 2008-2009 Flying season for ROCC I wanted to take a minute to update everyone on a few issues and outline my personal plans for this year.
I hope that this year will be as busy and that most of you will be able to come out and support the club as this countries economy has gone in the tank. I hope most of you are avoiding the huge mess and financial shake up. I know personally how this can affect leisure activities such as going out to movies, restaurants, sporting events and hobby activities. My hope is that since we have been in our summer break mode that folks have had time to acquire new rockets and motors and are just ready to fly. Our first launch is slated to be a busy one with our NAR contest and several folks wanting to cert. Plus, we have several ROCC business issues to confront, nominations and elections for club offices for the 2008-2009 Flying season, Flying schedule review, and FAA Waiver renewal. Plus, we need to finalize spending with our Prefecture improvement program that has to be completed by November 30th.
Which brings me to my bad news for the time being. (Please read on.....)
Due to recent severe salary cuts at my work I am not going to be running for either the ROCC President or TRA Prefect position this year. I have enjoyed my weekends off for the majority of my working career, which allowed me to commit to these positions for years and years. However, I now need to re-focus my efforts and look for part-time work/projects on the weekends just to make ends meet. I have spent a lot of my personal moneys over the years in the club but will no longer be able to commit to that. Plus, fresh blood at the helm may be a good thing, time for a Change as the majority just stated this week. So, please consider running for these offices this year. I plan on being at the launches for the remainder of the year and working with everyone to transition everything as smoothly as possible. Plus, I want to bring my grill out and run a Hot Dog stand (i.e. be the food Vendor for the launch) At least I get to burn something! Ha-Ha!
As far as the magazine goes, I will maintain my magazine and still want to work toward a club magazine solution. I will just need to make sure that Roy and or Brad, my two Employee possessors, will be at launches when I am not to make sure the magazine business gets done. However, I want the existing folks that store to be considerate of the volume of motors stored. Only buy what you can fly over a period of a couple of months.
On that note, I hope everyone is ready to go fly some rockets and have fun for a change. So, get your stuff ready and come out and have some fun. Please watch the website for updates to the schedule as we await the soybeans to come out of the field. My hope is that we start right on time next weekend Nov 15th and 16th.
Sincerely,
Ralph Roberts
ROCC Prez and Prefect.
