Get ready for the December and January contests

December 2009 - Golf Ball Loft - LPR Competition
Paul Phillips has developed an idea that we tossed around into something workable. The complete discussion is located on the ROCC Rocketry Planet blog. The basic idea is a fun reinvention of bowling ball lofting with LPR rockets and golf balls. The contest is planned for December. Key aspects: B motor, Must keep the ball on the field - no off field recovery, ball can recover by itself - only the ball is timed, "booster" must recover safely but need not be on field or returned, ball must stay with the booster even if turned upside down until the rocket is launched.
"Read More" for the details:

January 2010 - NAR HPR Competition - H Eggloft
Any interest in running something like this in the near future? Maybe January 2010? The official (provisional) rules are located on the NAR website under HPR sport rules. Wayne has suggested "H" eggloft which I am comfortable with. See discussion on the ROCC blog.
B-Motor: Golf Ball Duration.
In the spirit of Ralph's beloved Bowling Ball contest Paul has suggested we do golf balls. They weigh 1.62oz and would be fun on a "B" motor. Here are the rules:

1) One standard golf ball of your choice (must weigh at least 1.5oz)
2) Attachment point for recovery system may be screwed in
3) Booster section may come down separately with recovery device (no tumble)
4) Any certified "B" motor may be used
5) Attempt will NOT COUNT if not recovered on the field
6) Clock starts when rocket moves
7) Ball must remain attached to the booster when inverted - prior to launch. All components must stay attached until ignition.

Paul has offered a composite air frame suitable for MPR for the winner. Paul is not competing himself but will fly and anyone winning and beating Paul's flight may be in for an prize upgrade according to Paul.

More information on this contest is available on Our.RocketryPlanet.Com in the ROCC group.
