Launch Update for Feb. 21st - 22nd

Note to all attendees: Drive on the edges of the field ONLY. There's been a lot of rain and we need to be careful

Set-up at 10:00 AM with launchs starting as soon as set-up is complete.

Tear-Down at Dusk 5-5:30 Sat, and just before Dusk Sunday. Good to have light to put everything away by.
Vendors:
Performance Hobbies, aka, Ken Allen is scheduled to attend both days. Prepare to do some shopping.

Food available. Charlie Ogino and family is holding a Fund Raiser for Charlies TARC (Team America Rocket Challenge) Competition Rocket Team during the weekend. Food will help keep you warm.
They are planning on having slices of pizza (from Marios) and drinks available (maybe some baked goods) for Saturday. It should be arriving about 1:00 pm.

Do come on out. I always see pictures of those Yankee clubs up north in lawn chairs sitting in the snow grinning as they do their launchs. They cant be that more extreme than us down south. We should be able do better than that.

Read More for weather outlook....

Saturday weather as it is now projected, depending on what source you go by.

Sat morning is to start off clear and sunny, in the upper 20s, mid to upper 30s by launch time. Then warm up to the upper 40s by the afternoon with developing cloud cover moving in with the chance of some rain in the late afternoon or early evening. We should be done by that time anyway. Most of it is suppost to be north of Charlotte, any winter mix is suppost to be at Statesville and north .

Sunday weather is about the same, maybe a bit warmer, but probably moist grass and ground in the morning due to the Sat evening/night rain.

Hand and Backside warming with shelter. We will have two fire pits available and a pop-up shelter with a windscreen. If someone could grab a bundle of that firewood at a convience store, that would help out. Our Prefect Ralph has a propane space heater that could go into one of the shelters.

If anybody as an additional pop-up shelter, we could put that over the Sign-in table to keep any mist or rain off the paperwork this time. Last months rain really got the forms wet.

Dress accordingly. We know how to do it now. Remember, this is a working farm. Dress in layers with some good sturdy warm footwear. Your feet get cold easily if your not moving around, and if your feet get cold, the rest of you soon follows.

Hope to see you on the flight line. Watch the web site, www.rocketrycarolina.org, for any last minute details.
