June Launch Update to the UPDATE

SUNDAY HAS BEEN CANCELED
Due to the projected wind shift to winds out of the north at 11 mph and the hight of the corn (Over head high!) we are CANCELING Sunday's launch activities.
We're sorry about this but those that braved the 95+ degree heat today were flying on a favor form the rocket gods today. (everyone say "thank you oh great rocket gods") But with the projections of winds that are due to be straight into 6'high and higer corn that you can't see 3' in let alone walk through without major damage we are giving it a pass for the 2nd day. THANK YOU to all that came out, and we saw some old friends as well which was a very nice surprise indeed. Also, David Deason will be sending some silent auction stuff to me hopefully in the near future... he's getting out of the hobby for a while and has some great deals he's trying to make... Stay Tuned!
Sincerely,
Brad Shea

Wind forecasts are looking promising, with a 4 - 8 mph speed from the South West, shifting to the West during the afternoon. It's also going to be HOT... 95 degrees or so, so bring plenty of water and suncreen, as well as some shade if you can. See you all there!
Cross your fingers
Kip has removed the barley and the soybeans are starting to get planted. The corn on the south field is waist high and too thick to get a rocket back if it ventures in without a lot of work. We are trying to launch on the normal (3rd) weekend. However unless the wind is blowing away from the corn on the lower field and we have good weather we cannot launch. So there is a chance that this date could be moved - keep your radar tuned to the websites and emails for updates. A discussion of this is located here.
Field Options - ideas?
We're still pursuing some alternative field ideas but nothing has fully panned out yet. Other than this month's window of opportunity we expect to be unable to fly at the Williams Farm until Novemeber. Salisbury field has fallen through - Parks and Rec does not allow rockets in their parks. Another possible field that may work is being looked at... but keep the ideas flowing.
Club Meeting
Is there any interest in a club meeting? Assuming we are still having problems with the field Paul and Sandy and others have cooked up the idea of some topics in building techniques. It would be nice to learn what folks might be interested in so we can plan accordingly. Our group is a big tent with interests that range from simple LPR, competition flying, MPR, altitude junkies, oddroc builders, scale modelers, etc. Let's try to find something that appeals to each group.
MPR motors are still available
Ken Allen has other commitments and will not be attending our launches again until Fall unless somehow we have a change in either his or our scheduled dates. He did leave some Single Use F and some AMW/Pro-X G motors and cases for me to hold. List is located here. These are being sold by Ken and I am only providing a home for them and transport to/from the field. I am happy to do this since we have no vendor on site for a few months. Several people picked up a few items I've updated the list to reflect this.
NAR HPR Competition Rules
This is officially announced now. The official (provisional) rules are located here. I would like to discuss fly one this month if we can. Any ideas?
Thanks
Thanks to all who help make this a great club. We have had good participation with setup and tear down and plenty of additional help in other areas. Pat yourselves on the back - you make this club a great place to have fun.
