Launching this weekend is a GO

Rocket Dudes and Dudettes, Rejoice, for we have Rocket Launch this Saturday and Monday.
UPDATE for MONDAY, 1-18
Setup at 10:30AM Monday start Flying at 11:00 till 5:00PM
This will be a restricted FAR 101 Launch, meaning no rockets over 3.3 lbs and power limited to G and under power.
Ralph has spoken with Kip and they have determined that the field is marginable, but playable, if we're CAREFUL. Here's the skinny.... after the rain on Saturday eve. (they got close to 2 inches out at the farm) a lot of creeks have jumped their banks, but were receding nicely. The field is muddy, but if we park on the sides up near the house, and set up near the first ridge, we should be alright. Take your "Wellies", in that you will be dealing with mud. As always, take care and follow the safety guidelines. As this is a pick-up launch, without a waiver in place, you'll be limited to the 3lb rule, and no more than a G in impulse. The house is unoccupied right now, so that should help out with the logistics.
By the way, we'll be running the Golf Ball competition into the next 2 launch slots but I flew mine Saturday on a B6 and got an unofficial duration of 44.25 seconds. Not bad for a model that I put together in an afternoon! Anyway, that'll give you something to shoot for in your duration numbers.
As Roy would say at this point... Keep your nozzles clear!
DR
After conferring with both Ralph and Brad the plan is to go for a all-day launch Saturday the 16th. The waiver is in place for our typical 4,000' ceiling allowing for a 1,000' safety margin.
We've had no rain for some days and it has been cold and sunny so the grounds will be basically dry and firm.
Still, the more we are careful Sat, the better the grounds will be Monday.
We will still require that everyone drive on one side of the strip and not on the center.
Keep any driving to a minimum, no in and out repeated traffic please.
Saturday Set-up will be at 0900 with launches to start as soon as set-up is complete so we can have a full day.
The rain projection is for some time in the early or late evening through part of Sunday.
No rain Saturday but there is supposed to be some mid to high clouds. Winds from ENE shifting to E at 1 to 8 MPH. Recovery should be into the down-the-runway direction most of the day.
We will need to take down the launch equipment at the end of the day Saturday.
Monday the 18th is a Fed Holiday and many of us are off or can arrange to take it off .
If the site is firm enough, not too soaked, we would like to have a Monday launch.
We will have a ground check early Monday morning and put out a announcement late Sunday or early Monday.
If we do fly on Monday we will not have a Flight Waiver, so we will have some limits.
Important point is :
No rockets over 3 lb 4 oz including the engine.
No engine over 4.4 oz propellant. Example= Aerotech H123 is to heavy, but Cessaroni H123 is light. G's are good.
That's the overall plan. Hope you can come out.
Roy, ROCC Sec.
