Upcoming Launch Schedule

ROCC 2024-2025 Launch Schedule:

NO launch in May due to the wheat. We hope to fly in June.

All launches are at the Midland, NC site unless otherwise stated.*

Here are some other launch opportunities in our area:

ICBM & ROSCO, better known as Rocketry South Carolina, flies near Dalzelle, SC., Just NE of Shaw AFB.  More information can be gotten at their site HERE

The Saturn Rocketry Club in Hendersonville is currently switching their launch field. As soon as we know where they land we will post it. Their FB site is HERE

NC Rocketry flies at Bayboro, NC in the northeast part of the state, information is HERE

Set-up starts at about 9:30, launches commence about 10:30. Field closes about 60 min. before local dusk so we can clean up. Watch the site front page for specifics. Also visit us on FaceBook. You can also check for the FAA NOTAM at https://notams.aim.faa.gov/notamSearch/nsapp.html#/ and using KCLT (Charlotte) as the location. This will give you the starting and ending times for HP flights.

* If field is available due to crops, etc.

Scout Launch set for August 13th

Sandy sent me a note that he's arranging a Boy Scout demo & participatory launch, currently set for August 13th at the Belk Scout Camp. We'll need 3-5 volunteers to make this a go. (I think we did it wth 4 last year. It was postponed for a day by the very high winds we had.)

16 or so scouts 20-25 rockets.
August 13th (Saturday) 10:00-1:00.

ROCC members are welcome to help out and do demo launches.  We can fly MPR rules.  Altitudes over 1000ft are probably not a great idea for people who haven't seen Belk before.  They like to see stuff up close rather than way high and the field is fairly narrow. It's a good A-E field provided you don't put a C engine into a Mosquito.

So post in the comments section if you can join in the fun and let us know. Set-up will probably be around 9 in the morning but I wil verify that with Sandy.

They have the field from 10:00-1:00. They have told the kids to plan to be there around 10:30, so I think ROCC guys arriving around 9:45 could be fine. I think we can easily get away with a minimal set-up, so getting things put out should take less than a half hour, I'd say.

I should be able to help on this. I had a great time last year.

I would be interested in helping out, never done it before. My question would be whether or not I should bring some rockets or not. I only have mid - high power ones which I can keep around the 1K mark, but how "narrow" is this place ? Can someone provide directions to the field we are doing this at. If we think I can do my Aerotech Mirage / initiator or LOC Expeditor / 4-29SS within this area, I can bring my gun turrent pad & lancher. Let me know.

Thanks,

Michael

BTW - I emailed you directly Sandy, not sure if you got it or not.

Sorry, Michael. I actually didn't get any e-mail since Thursday night, as our cable modem got fried in the storms, so I've been 'internet free' at home.

I don't recall how far away you live, but that would be a deciding factor in my mind. The field is not very high flight friendly and I know you've got some nice stuff that flies well on larger motors. If you've got something in the 500-700 range on EFG motors, that might be a good choice.

As far as pad stuff goes, I'm pretty sure we'll be grabbing stuff from the farm (its 10 minutes away. . . ) so additional equipment isn't really required.

Please feel free to join us. It will actually be a pretty short day with much of the time dedicated to helping out the scouts, but as Doc said, it is a good time.

Sorry for not getting back with you until now. Hopefully we get the new modem today and my inbox isn't crazy overfilled. . .

I'll make a weather call if needed by 9:30.

See you there!
