Friday, January 17, 2020 at 11:42AM Hi folks... As you may have noticed it's been a rainy week in lake Midland, with the rain guage getting almost 2" of rain between Sunday and Wednesday night. From communications with Kip he said that the creek overflowed, the runway was a lake and he was thinking of buying a set of floats for the Piper Cub.
That said, with rain an almost certainty tomorrow even Sunday would be out of the question.
We're going to re-set for next weekend, the 25th-26th, and hope that Tlaloc will let us fly next weekend.
Now that doesn't mean there's nothing Rockety going on this weekend. Both SEVRA and NOVAR are launching on Saturday, and we have the SpaceX In-Flight Abort Test to look forward to early on Saturday morning. Details on that are all over the web, here's just one LINK.
Sorry to be the bearer of bad news but we can't really fight Momma Nature.

Thursday, January 9, 2020 at 9:43PM Just got a post from ROSCO on FaceBook, due to high winds and predicted rain the launch in Camden, SC January 11 & 12 is canceled. See the ROCC Facebook page or the Rocketry South Carolina website for more information.
Thursday, January 9, 2020 at 10:49AM In what is becoming a tradition (I think it's our 5th or 6th one) we rang in the new year with our own version of loud noises, waking the neighborhood and banishing evil spirits away... we just did it with some loud motors instead of the more traditional shotguns and muskets. Click the "read more" link to get to this one as well. Doc Russell
Thursday, January 9, 2020 at 10:43AM Roy Potter's report on all the goings-on from our December pre-Christmas launch on the 21st & 22nd. Click the "read more" link to get all the info... Thanks Roy!
Thursday, January 2, 2020 at 9:48PM There should be a launch in Camden SC the 11th & 12th of January. Launch site details are available HERE on their direct site, and their FaceBook page is HERE.
Launch fees are $10/dy for SCR members and $15/dy for non-members.
It's a great field and they're great folks down there, it's about a 2 hour & 15 min. trip south on 77 from Charlotte. Kinda drive to Columbia and hang a left.

Tuesday, December 24, 2019 at 5:41PM I just wanted to wish everyone a happy and joyous holiday season no matter what your deity of choice!
Also, thanks for everyone that came out and had a nice launch weekend with us this past weekend.
As for upcoming launches, we're going to try for our January 1st launch, it's become kind of a tradition now after something like 6 years, so hopefully the weather will cooperate.
Bring that holiday cash and buy that gift you didn't get from Ken!

Friday, December 20, 2019 at 10:46PM Hello fellow ROCC'ers! The pre-ChrismaHanuKwanzSolstiFestivus launch weekend is upon us!
Saturday weather is looking extremely nice, with low winds (3-5 MPH) out of the NE to N (heading away from Mr. S), and temps are supposed to be in the mid 40's so dress in layers.
UPDATE: Ken will be with us on SUNDAY IF WE LAUNCH, NOT SATURDAY.
Set-up about 9:30, should be launching by 10:30, close up at 5 PM.
Now then, for Sunday... It's really a crapshoot as I write this at Noon Friday. There's a large high pressure zone to our south that depending on where it goes on Saturday will determine when & how much rain we get on Sunday and Monday. We'll need to make a call on Saturday depending on the updated forecasts.
If you want to fly this weekend, looks like Saturday is the day!
See ya out there... dr
Thursday, December 12, 2019 at 4:37PM Here's Roy Potter's report on all the goings-on of our first launch in the 2019-2020 season. Though we were delayed twice by Dzahui, (Mesoamerican god of rain) we finally got going on a beautiful Friday & Saturday with lovely weather. Have a look at the details... dr
