Upcoming Launch Schedule

ROCC 2024-2025 Launch Schedule:

NO launch in May due to the wheat. We hope to fly in June.

All launches are at the Midland, NC site unless otherwise stated.*

Here are some other launch opportunities in our area:

ICBM & ROSCO, better known as Rocketry South Carolina, flies near Dalzelle, SC., Just NE of Shaw AFB.  More information can be gotten at their site HERE

The Saturn Rocketry Club in Hendersonville is currently switching their launch field. As soon as we know where they land we will post it. Their FB site is HERE

NC Rocketry flies at Bayboro, NC in the northeast part of the state, information is HERE

Set-up starts at about 9:30, launches commence about 10:30. Field closes about 60 min. before local dusk so we can clean up. Watch the site front page for specifics. Also visit us on FaceBook. You can also check for the FAA NOTAM at https://notams.aim.faa.gov/notamSearch/nsapp.html#/ and using KCLT (Charlotte) as the location. This will give you the starting and ending times for HP flights.

Campout?

Everyone: Would you like to have a campout this month. The concern is that the wheat will be too tall to find Estes rockets in the field by April. If we don't do it now we will have to wait until the wheat is cut which could be late June. It may be too hot by then for most. I have a guy who would be willing to cook Hamburgers and Hot Dogs if we want him. Plus there is a hint that Ken Allen from performance may be down on Sunday, the 20th. However, I need to confirm. If interested in camping this month, in two weeks, email Ralph and RoccPrez@prodigy.net ASAP. I need to try to get everyone lined up for duties and stuff. Please vote in the poll >>>>>>>>>>>>>> Thanks, Ralph

Sunday January 16 Launch Report

More From Roy Potter. Welcome and congratulations to all of those who braved the weather for the January rocket launch. Sunday was much better weather wise. It was mostly sunny, cool to cold, easily tolerable, and less windy, with a calm afternoon, which was good for gliders. We had 30 listed fliers and 99 flights, missed a even 100 by one flight. Ken, our rocket vender from Performance Hobbies all the way from Wash DC, was back also, conducting business and answering questions about many of the rocket products available.

January 15th Launch Report

From Roy Potter: Welcome and congratulations to all of those who braved the weather for the January rocket launch. Saturday, the 15th of January was cold, overcast and windy with 15 to 20 MPH winds. (a lot of wind cocking, so a lot of flights didnt drift to far even with the wind) BUT, even then, we had a crowd of people out there. I have counted 24 listed fliers that put up 74 recorded flights for the day. AND, even with the wind, which calmed down a bit as the day progressed, youll see we had 3 H and 2 I flights that just pushed their way through the winds. To make it more survivable, I brought out a portable pit fire so we had a open fire to keep warm and stand around while talking about our flights and talk shop.

Apologies to everybody who I've spamed today.

If you got a whole bunch of emails from me today, I apologize. I've changed the code that runs the way the site send emails, and the testing was a bit more public than I had hoped.

December launch report from Roy Potter

Merry Christmas and Happy New Year to all you exhaust sniffing rocket nerds. I myself had a great two week holiday season. Lots of neat stuff and gift certificates to Hobby Town USA. I hope everyone did as well and had a great time also. And the December launch was pretty darned good overall too!!!! Saturday, 18 Dec at the Williams farm. The weather was almost T shirt warm and almost no winds. Light breezes at the most. There were continuous giveaway drawings for rocket kits for adults and kids all day, so there should be some new rockets in the air next month. Hey it was Christmas and everyone was enjoying the last flight of the year. Kip Williams was out there with the hands working the fields and he is getting along much better. He gets around with a cane for now, but will continue to recover. Click the button to read more...
