Upcoming Launch Schedule

ROCC 2024-2025 Launch Schedule:

NO launch in May due to the wheat. We hope to fly in June.

All launches are at the Midland, NC site unless otherwise stated.*

Here are some other launch opportunities in our area:

ICBM & ROSCO, better known as Rocketry South Carolina, flies near Dalzelle, SC., Just NE of Shaw AFB.  More information can be gotten at their site HERE

The Saturn Rocketry Club in Hendersonville is currently switching their launch field. As soon as we know where they land we will post it. Their FB site is HERE

NC Rocketry flies at Bayboro, NC in the northeast part of the state, information is HERE

Set-up starts at about 9:30, launches commence about 10:30. Field closes about 60 min. before local dusk so we can clean up. Watch the site front page for specifics. Also visit us on FaceBook. You can also check for the FAA NOTAM at https://notams.aim.faa.gov/notamSearch/nsapp.html#/ and using KCLT (Charlotte) as the location. This will give you the starting and ending times for HP flights.

* If field is available due to crops, etc.

May launch update

Kip's crop situation is, well, there's no other way to say it, they're really TALL!

Ralph & I worked out at the farm a couple weekends ago and I found my lost Luna rocket (which was nice) but the oats in the north field where it was were beard-deep!!

Bottom line, we're not flying in May.

Good side, we may very well get a June launch in so we'll keep you up to date.

April 22 & 23 Launch Report

Unfortunately weather conspired against us in April, with high winds on Saturday and a day full of Rain canceling Sunday. Roy couldn't make it out so I'll take a stab at doing the launch report. Remember, if you have photos that you want me to post in the gallery send them over to: rocketrycarolina (at) gmail (dot) com.

Space-X has a sense of humor

I watched the first re-launch of Space-X hardware the other day with great admiration, but heard something go by in the commentary that I just had to do some more research on. The 2 drone recovery ships are named the  "Just Read the Instructions" and the "Of Course I Still Love You"!

Here's a LINK to the Wikipedia article.

Glad to see so many folks that have been absent too long and get a chance to catch up. Here's Roy with all the 311 (do folks still say that?) dr

Our (late) January 2017 launch report

Our much rain delayed January launch finally got underway on the last weekend of the month, with a lot going on. We had many flyers, some nice weather for late January, the SLI teams from 2 different higher institutions and first contact with the TARC team from out in Monroe, NC I believe. Lots happening! Here's Roy to tell you all about it...

Jan 21st & 22nd scrubbed, moved to 28th & 29th

Well folks the weather gods aren't smiling on us this weekend...  predictions are for dense fog, rain, and then on Sunday more rain.

Even the fog would be enough to kill it as the FAA really frowns on us not being able to see our own airspace!

Pray for nice weather next weekend and we hope to see you all out on the 28th & 29th.

Return to Flight November 2016

It seemed like we were destined never to fly again... between weather, crops, drought, fire and plague (OK, maybe not plague exactly...) but finally, after a long hot summer, we were BACK, Baby! Here's Roy's take on all the goings-on from our November 2016 launch. Thanks Roy! dr
