Upcoming Launch Schedule

ROCC 2025-2026 Launch Schedule:

THERE ARE NO CURRENT LAUNCH DATES SCHEDULED FOR MIDLAND.

All launches are at the Midland, NC site on the 3rd weekend of the month unless otherwise stated.*

Here are some other launch opportunities in our area:

ICBM & ROSCO, better known as Rocketry South Carolina, flies near Dalzelle, SC., Just NE of Shaw AFB on the 2nd weekend of the month.  More information can be had at their site HERE

The Saturn Rocketry Club in Hendersonville is currently switching their launch field. As soon as we know where they land we will post it. Their FB site is HERE

NC Rocketry flies at Bayboro, NC in the northeast part of the state, information is HERE

Set-up starts at about 9:30, launches commence about 10:30. Field closes about 60 min. before local dusk so we can clean up. Watch the site front page for specifics. Also visit us on FaceBook. You can also check for the FAA NOTAM at https://notams.aim.faa.gov/notamSearch/nsapp.html#/ and using KCLT (Charlotte Intl.) as the location. This will give you the starting and ending times for HP flights.

* If field is available due to crops, etc.

ROCC UPDATE for May 16/17

ROCC UPDATE for May 16/17

After much consultation between Kip and the crew, the field crops status will not allow us to fly. Despite the lack of rain the wheat has been out there doing its thing, growing like, well, wheat. It's now knee high in most of the fields and we really can't risk that.

It looks like SC is the place to fly for the next few months. Sorry folks.

March ROCC flight report

I have to admit, Roy had this in like 10 days ago and I just had a crazy week (I'd already worked 27 hours by the end of Tuesday!) so I didn't get to it. We were all so sorry about the weather canceling the April date, hopefully we'll get some rain and break this dry spell. South Carolina had to cancel as well because of the fire ban. Click the "Read More" link to get the whole thing... dr

ROCC Update for 4/18 & 19

As of Thursday the statewide burning ban is still in place, and with no rain, temps in the 90's and winds in the 10-15 mph range predicted for Saturday & Sunday we have little choice but to scrub the launch for the weekend. South Carolina had to cancel last weekend for the same reasons. It's just really dry right now with no sign of a letup in the near future. We'll keep an eye on things and try to reschedule. TB/dr

February 21 Launch Report

I'm way behind in posting the February report from Roy, I think we were thinking about finding a weekend to fly a make-up day and I didn't want to cloud that message getting out, but that's on me. Roy had it in on time, so sorry Roy! Hit that "read more" button to, well, read the whole thing! TB/dr

Update for March 22nd...

ROCC Update...

We will NOT be flying on Sunday the 22nd. Winds are supposed to be around 15 mph out of the southwest for most of the afternoon heading right toward where we don't want to go, and Ken is in VA for the weekend.

March 21 & 22 Update:

Saturday the 21st is looking unseasonably warm, topping out into the low 80s(!) and 7 mph winds going straight east down the runway towards the entrance.
Set-up at 10, fly by 11, shutdown at about 5:30 PM.
Sunday is looking windier, we'll take a look at the weather and make a decision about flying both days or just Saturday.

March launch window update Friday 3/13

Consensus seems to be we will stick with our regularly scheduled launch window of March 21st & 22nd rather than trying to scramble and get one set up for this weekend. Sunday was always kind of iffy this weekend anyway.

Weather is looking good for the 21st & 22nd, hopefully the long range forecast will prove correct.

Get busy and finish those builds and we'll see you next weekend.

February 21 & 22 Friday 8 PM Update:

Well, the weather gods seemed to have given us a small break, in that the rain chances have slacked off quite a lot in the last few days.
There's a spike to 50% chance of rain that ends at about 9 AM. That's why I wanted to hold off arrival until 10. Hopefully that'll give that little bit of rain a chance to pass. It also doesn't look like much accumulation so let's give Saturday a go.
Sunday looks very windy, 15 mph or more for most of the afternoon, and without Ken here we'll ONLY fly Saturday.
SETUP will be at 10 in the morning, or once the rain has passed.
PLEASE, before you drive out, CHECK the site Saturday morning. If we get more than Kip is comfortable with we will scrub.
Remember, if you want to flog some extra rocket stuff bring it along and we'll have a boot sale, since Ken won't be with us.
Remember if the field's wet wear appropriate shoes and drive down the SDIES of the runway.

Fingers crossed!!

February 21 & 22 Monday evening update

Hey all... Looking at the weather the last couple days it's not looking great for the weekend. A few days ago Saturday was not bad but rain is encroaching quickly. We'll need to keep a weather eye out.

If we do fly, Ken is not going to be with us, he'll be in Maryland. He called and asked if anyone needed anything from him, please give him a call at (202) 723-8257 and work out payment. I can meet him Thursday evening and pick stuff up and bring it to the field.

That said, if you have things you'd like to sell this would be a perfect weekend to sell them off if we do end up flying.
