Photo request

We've had a great number of flights in the last 2 months, but I have to admit I haven't been taking many photos at the launches in this time frame. Does anyone have photos that they can send me to post on the site? If you do, I'd love to have 'em. Please, if you do, send them to my g-mail account (it's got a 2 GIGAbyte mail box on it) at: rocketrycarolina@gmail.com. Thanks so much and be sure to send me credit info so I can get the credit lines right! Thanks, Doc Russell

April Launch Annoucement (Read Carefully) (Revised)

The April Launch is a go for the Farm with limitations (April 16th and 17th) We will have to setup nearest to the areas of the field that are not getting close to harvesting. This means moving all the way to the back of the runway. This is per Kip tonight. The problem is, there is little room to the south and west for recovery. I would strongly recommend cutting your altitude and power levels due to recovery area. Note There is a huge field to the North and Northeast, you just have to hope the rockets don't windcock or rodwhip in the wrong direction. I will meet with Kip early Saturday morning to evaluate the best place for setup. We will need to keep everyone out of the fields except those recovering their rockets. Let's limit the helpers. Also note the Wheat in some places may be Knee deep. Long pants are recommended. Don't fly small rockets such as Ninjas and Swifts that can't hold large streamers they will fall down into the wheat and you will not be able to find them. Use big streamers and chutes so they lay up on top of the wheat. We will start the launch at 12:00 Noon. We will be running the launch from 12:00 Noon to 7:00PM each day. Setup at 11:30AM each day.

Website is getting used !

Well, I was sitting around earlier today and I decided to go and see what the site had been doing lately. Was I surprised! Here are some stats from the counter pages: This site has received 22303 pages views since 08.2004, 39 today, and 53 yesterday. The day on which there was the most traffic so far was Wednesday, January 26, 2005 (607 page views), while Thursday, September 02, 2004 (1 page views) was the day with the fewest hits. Most people visit on Tuesday, with a total of 3778 page views, while Saturday is the day with the fewest visits, with a total of 2358 page views. On average, the busiest hour (with 1659 page views ) starts at 22 :00, The hour during which traffic has been lightest starts at 4 :00, (with only 208 page views). So send me articles, news, photos and the like! Or join and send us a request to get your log-in. Then you can send stories to the site for a moderator (like Ralph or I) to post! Thanks, Doc Russell

March launch a go for the 19th & 20th

Ralph asked that the following items be sent out to our mailing list: 1. Ralph, while on his way to Tennessee, gave Steve Bumgarner a call, and he passed it on to me, to suggest that we cancel and reschedule the "Launch Camp-Out" this weekend because of the projected rainy week ahead. It looks like the stormy weather will make the ground pretty mushy and no fun to camp upon. We'll try the camp-out again at a later date, maybe the "Return to the Farm Launch" after crop season is over. Or maybe sooner, who knows. 2. This weekends launch will go on as scheduled, but with one suggestion. Since Ken Allen of Performance Hobbies has indicated that he will be our vendor this month - on Sunday only - that perhaps we should start launching around 10:00 AM on Sunday morning to give Ken and all the fliers more time to conduct buisness together. Watch the weather for Sat, but remember, no mater what its doing in Charlotte, it can still be good flying weather out at the farm. As it stands for now, setup on Saturday will be at 11:00 am with flights to start as soon as setup is complete. We will probably put the launch equipment up for the night, or cover it with tarps for Sundays launch. We can't say exactly when Ken Allen will pull in. Hopefully we will have a projected time of arrival by Sat night. OK, hope to see you all out there. Take care and remember to keep your exhaust nozzles clear.

Campout?

Everyone: Would you like to have a campout this month. The concern is that the wheat will be too tall to find Estes rockets in the field by April. If we don't do it now we will have to wait until the wheat is cut which could be late June. It may be too hot by then for most. I have a guy who would be willing to cook Hamburgers and Hot Dogs if we want him. Plus there is a hint that Ken Allen from performance may be down on Sunday, the 20th. However, I need to confirm. If interested in camping this month, in two weeks, email Ralph and RoccPrez@prodigy.net ASAP. I need to try to get everyone lined up for duties and stuff. Please vote in the poll >>>>>>>>>>>>>> Thanks, Ralph
