April Launch Annoucement April 19th and 20th

Saturday and Sunday April 19th and 20th from 11:00 to 7:30 each day
ROCC Sport launch.
We are coming into our crop season now.
I got a report from Kip Williams, our land owner, that is Barley crop is running about a 1' to a 1.5' tall, so finding small Estes rockets will be tough this month if they land in the Barley (on the South field). Half the field is covered in Barley, that will be something to consider this month. I recommend flying the larger rockets this month.
Bring your streamer material, 2'-5' streamers would be good to add this month, as it will lay up on top of the Barley as the rockets fall in.
We will have the April launch as scheduled, May is looking out of the question due to the height and drying out of the Barley crop which will be getting ready to come out. Of course the NSL launch is the following weekend in Orangeburg, SC I say at this point we make that our may launch....
Unofficial campout launch: I spoke to Kip to ask if we could camp since we sometimes we do a Spring campout launch, he said it would be OK. I will camp if we have other takers, however, as April weather can still be cool I'll leave up to you all if you would like to camp.
Vendors: No Vendors this launch, Ken will be at the Red Glare launch in MD.
Note: Keep an eye on email and the website for any changes regarding our launch, especially weather.
June we be as scheduled with the fact that the corn crop will be starting to get to be 1' to 3 feet tall on the North side of the field. Will only recommend Mid to High power at this point. Just watch our website for updates as we get closer. www.rocketrycarolina.org
The new rails have arrived: Thanks to Sandy Houston he was able to get the rails for a cheaper price than Mcmaster-Carr, about $97.00 dollars plus tax. I will have some bases and stops made this we so we can use them this launch. Since club funds are a bit low I would like for folks to donate to the rail fund. So this launch see me to throw in a small donation to the rail fund. I think a few people offered up some kits and other items to raffle off, please bring those out, so we may do a raffle as well to contribute.
Visitors this month: There will be a group of home school parents and their kids coming out to watch and learn a bit about rocketry. The are targeting about 3:00pm on Saturday. We will give them a little show and tell and I may bring them around to some of you to show off your cool rockets. So bring some stuff to show off.
Motor Magazine status: We need to fly some rockets boys. After taking an inventory last week, we are close to our limit and we cannot order any more motors to go into the safe until we fly what we have. You all know who you are, so get to it.
Duty Roster: I will have sign-up sheets for the launch. Sign up to help, please!!!!!!
Porta-Potty: Will be on-site this launch. I may go ahead and turn in the Porta-Potty after this launch and we will make a call for June if we will need since June is a lot less attended, I could possibly get it for a weekend rental rate, we will discuss.
Flyer-Fees: Please come out and fly and pay your fees. Recommended $8-$10 donation a day per flyer. We still have to pay the Piper.
Bob's Restaurant: Several of us have started going up to Bob's Restaurant on Hwy 601 just North of Kiser Road about 2 miles. They have surprised me with the quality of food. Friday and Saturday nights are their Fish nights, they have some good specials at reasonable prices. Allows us to have a bit of a social gathering away from the field. They have a great Jumbo Cheeseburger and a really good Buffalo Chicken Sandwich.
Thank a launch Volunteer: Everyone, please be sure to thank everyone who helped run our launches this season. Since we started in November and run through the spring of the year. The people who help put on the launches put a lot of effort to make sure our launches run smoothly and on time. From charging batteries, cleaning and sodering connectors and leads, Posting notices and sending emails, to coming out early and staying late to make sure everything is Setup and taken down. People go the extra mile to make sure our launch are the best. I personally want to thank Roy Potter and Doc and Jean Russell for all the hard work you all do. Volunteers are what make this club and everyone that has helped this year I thank you as well.
