Giant Leap info for upcoming launches

Passing this on: Hi Everybody, This is Tim Durbin, your local Giant Leap Rocketry representative. I am planning on going to Orangeburg this month on the 9th and 10th of December, but I am also planning on making our ROCC monthly launch this December as well the following weekend. I have two new shipments of products in. I also have some new and exciting products that will be making their first appearance on the market at the Orangeburg Launch. For those of you going to the Orangeburg Launch this weekend you will get to see them there. I will also have the products at the ROCC launch unless they sell out. If they do, I will have catalogues and leaflets on the new products and you can take a look if you like. I can take orders on the spot for any product that anybody wishes to purchase and can have that direct shipped. I have a lot stuff for building rockets, flying rockets, and keeping them flying much more than the past two launches. If there is anything you need you can drop me a line at TDurbinGLR@StarBand.Net . If you wish, you may leave a contact number and I can call you back if you would like to speak with me directly. Remember that I do go to launches on some weekends, so give me until Monday if I dont answer, but your email is important to me, and I wont ignore you. I can also take pre-orders for anything you may want for the January Launch. The reason I say January is because its getting too close to get an order packed and shipped to me to guarantee delivery by the Dec launch. Its possible, but not a guarantee. I can work with folks individually and come up with a delivery plan to is best for you.

November 18th 19th launch info...

Hi Everyone; Saturday November 18th 11:00-5:00 Sunday November 19th 11:00-5:00 NAR contest this weekend, since it was postponed last month due to wind. Random Duration - Weighting Factor 10 Super-Roc Duration "A" Motors - Weighting Factor 13 Egg Loft Duration "C" Motors - Weighting Factor 16 We will provide a $10.00 gift card from HOBBYTOWN,USA for each contest and NAR ribbons and points will be awarded. Doc has pictures of plans on the site, & you can also look them up in the NAR Contest book on the NAR website WWW.NAR.ORG For fun we may throw in a spot landing contest for some kits or motors, no Nar points. Venders: Brent Johnson from Hobbytown USA, Mooresville, NC I have not heard from but I expect him to be there one day. Brent, Let us know your schedule ASAP. Tim Durbin from Giant Leap will be there, hopefully with more stuff this month. Note: Ken will not be there due to some other launches, this is a change cause he did indicate he would come last month, sorry. The Porta-Jon from A.L. Lowder will be there, come out to support the Porta-Potty, hey last month we actually flew one, no kidding.. John - Go ahead and secure the waivers for both days for this weekend and let me know ASAP. We need as many people as we can to make our flyer fee goal. Last year we did pretty good, but we could have done better. We need everyone and their donations so please contribute if you fly. Remember our recommended donation is $8.00-$10.00 per flyer per day, families with lots of young flyers maybe a $10.00 donation would be good. Again, these are recommendations, not a hard rule yet. The requested weekend land fee from the land owner is $250, so we need everyone to drop a little something in the jar. Also we have to pay the Porta-Jon fee. That is an extra $74.90 a month. To keep us from going broke we need $325.00 a weekend. That's only about 18-20 flyers a day. We are kicking off the 2006-2007 flying season so go ahead and renew you memberships if you can. We still have some old T-Shirts and Mark Ferrell has been working on a new logo which he will we will post on the website for folks to comment on, we need to decide quickly so he can start printing shirts.. Anyone needing to certify, please contact me ahead of time. Todd Haring or Terry Baucom can arrange to have the Level 2 NAR test delivered to the field and we can have others administer the test. Note: I may need to leave early Sunday due to a conflict, so if I can have some volunteers for shut down on Sunday. Also Roy Potter is not going to be there this weekend due to a Pre-Holiday vacation. Thanks, Ralph Roberts ROCC Prez

October 15th launch report

Hey all you Rocket Junkies. It has been a long crop season. Anyway it sure felt like for most of us. ROCC Club Prez Ralph wanted to have a early one day launch once the farm became available after the crop season was completed. The idea was to have a easy non rushed one day launch to be able to check out the launch equipment and see what parts needed cleaning, repair or replacement before hosting a regular weekend long full scale launch. I was committed that weekend and couldn't make it myself, but was glad that the rest of you had a chance to get out and be able to get a deep breath of rocket exhaust.

October 28 29th launch report

Happy post-Halloween to all you rocket exhaust sniffing junkies. I don't know about the most of you, but I have a lot of candy leftover from Halloween night. We had a lot of trick-or-treaters, some really great and cute costumes, but enough chocolate that we can have a sweet snack each time we walk through the kitchen. The Official October Rocket Launch was held on what I would call Halloween weekend, and we did have some spooky flights.

Launch Update

Well it was WINDY (how windy was it?) It was SO windy... it blew over the low power pads and sent the launch slip board off the table! It was WINDY! Seriously though it was a lovely weekend if you liked flying rockets and we had a lot of dedicated, albeit crazy, flyers that tempted (and yes, fed) the rocket gods this past weekend. Roy said he was surprised at the number of flights and the number of lost rockets was fairly small. We couldn't really do much on the contest though, and I feel bad about that. I've spoken to a few of the more contest-obsessed folks and it looks like the thing to do is to extend it into out November launch window. Maybe Saturday the 18th? Let me know by e-mail and we'll get a concensus. Please use rocketrycarolina@gmail.com Thanks, DR

NAR Contest UPDATE

Due to the predicted weather tomorrow I have grave doubts about being able to fly any of the duration events for our contest, at least for Saturday. Ralph and I have spoken and would like to suggest that we postpone at least untill Sunday. I'd like a chance to converse with Brad and some of the participants to get a concensus but I'd tend to go with at least Sunday, if not the November 18th/19th launch window. I'll have flight cards and stop watches available if any one wants to fly tomorrow but I think Sunday would be a lot more condusive to it. Doc R.
