Here are some other launch opportunities in our area:

ICBM & ROSCO, better known as Rocketry South Carolina, flies near Dalzelle, SC., Just NE of Shaw AFB.  More information can be gotten at their site HERE

The Saturn Rocketry Club in Hendersonville is currently switching their launch field. As soon as we know where they land we will post it. Their FB site is HERE

NC Rocketry flies at Bayboro, NC in the northeast part of the state, information is HERE

Set-up starts at about 9:30, launches commence about 10:30. Field closes about 60 min. before local dusk so we can clean up. Watch the site front page for specifics. Also visit us on FaceBook. You can also check for the FAA NOTAM at https://notams.aim.faa.gov/notamSearch/nsapp.html#/ and using KCLT (Charlotte) as the location. December 15th and 16th Launch

When : Sat and Sun, December 15 & 16, 2012.

Where :   The Williams Farm. See Web Site for directions if you are new.

Set Up :   Volunteers show up at 0930 to help setup.

Launch Start :   As soon as set-up is complete.

Launch ends :   Approximately around 5:00 PM so we have some light to close up.

Weather at this time :  Saturday looking like the better day at this point, hoping both days are flyable.

Ken Allen, Performance Hobbies, is expected to out there Saturday only.

December Theme: V-2  Aggregat-4 (A4)

Hopefully Rocket Ralph will have his Grill out serving drinks, and dog’s.

Remember that this is a working farm, so dress accordingly, sturdy shoes and suggest you dress in layers so you can take layers off and on as the temperature changes. When the sun is shining at the farm it is like a solar collector out there with the open field so it can be 10 degrees warmer when the sun is clear than in the city.

We are continuing with our Range Safety standards, although changes may be coming to this system. If you're a level 2, we need you to sign up for an hour of RSO duty.

RSO=Range Safety Officer to pre-inspect rockets before flights.

LCO=Launch Control Officer to check range conditions and control the launch’s in a timely and efficient manner.

Check both the WEB site and at the launch’s for info on volunteering for RSO (Cert Lv-2 required) and LCO (Cert Lv-1 preferred, but any responsible and experienced adult can apply).

It’s great for anybody who isn’t flying that day but wants to take part anyway.

And it’s fun to push the little red button.

Duty signups sheet will be at the front table for RSO, LCO, and equipment take down. Please remember to sign up.

Check the Web Site for any possible last minute changes.

November Launch Rescheduled for 11/24 & 11/25

Good Morning,

I spoke to Ralph last night to get an update on the field, and drove out to the farm this morning. The beans are still in the field, and they are certainly dry. Kip has indicated he might have to work on Saturday to complete the task of removing the beans. Ralph and I both have some concerns over the wind forecast as well.

At this point, the best course of action is to give Kip the time he needs and push the November launch to 11/24 & 11/25. One benefit of pushing the launch back a week is that Ken can attend on Saturday, 11/24

* Ken will be onsite for Saturday, 11/24 only!

Belk Scout Camp - Saturday, August 11

We've been invited back to the Belk Scout Camp on August 11th to help the scouts with a rocket launch. The launch would start at approx. 10am and run to 1pm.

Basically we stop by the farm to pickup our low power pads and equipment, then head to the camp to set up.

Right now we have myself and Ralph committed to going. We need at least two more people to help us. So who would be available to help on 8/11? Please let me know asap!

Thanks
John

Member Contact Information

A lot of members have asked for this, and now we have it!

After you log in, click on Member Info on the left side of the page. You will notice that we can now contact other members. This is a great addition that both Jean, and Doc have added to the site. We will make sure we have a process in place so this section remains updated. They are still working on it, so it's not the finished product but an outstanding start.

Thanks goes out to both Jean and Doc for working on this new section.

Launch - May 19 & 20th - Flee Market

Hopefully the weather allows us two great days of launching this coming weekend! Some points:

 1. The return of the duty rosters, so please sign up. The rosters will be up at the front tables. We need more people participating in LSO/RSO, and set up and take down of the equipment. So if you can be onsite Saturday morning at 9:30am to help set up, please email me at johnbergsmith@me.com. As always, thanks to everyone that helps.

2. Don't forget to pay the daily launch fee. Everyone has been doing a great job, so lets keep it up.

3. We will make sure to have a small trash can near the pads. Please try to get all of the used igniters, and other trash, thrown away if you can.

4. Ken will not be attending this launch weekend. So it's a great time to bring out any kits, or other rocketry stuff, you want to sell. Bring it out and work some trades or sales with you rocketry friends. We can do this without having to worry about impacting Ken's sales. We all have something to sell, right?

5. Don't forget about the theme for this weekend, Der Red Max & Goblin.

6. Nascar races on Friday and Saturday night, watch out for traffic.

Stay tuned for further updates as we get closer to the weekend.
