Here is the latest, the Winter Wheat is cut, I spoke to Kip tonight (June 22nd). We will setup just beyond the ditch in the middle, at 12:00 Noon Saturday There is some waist high corn along the southern fields tree line. With southerly breezes it should not present a problem. We need a head count if you are planning on eating either Hog Dogs or Hamburgers. Please RSVP to RoccPrez@prodigy.net by Friday Noon so we can get enough goodies. Also let me know if you will be camping if you can. Ken Allen, with Performance hobbies will be at the Whitikers Launch this weekend, they are have there sport launch. I am still waiting on a response from Larry Smith at Rocket Science. I' keep you posted. I am trying to get a Porta-John in there, will let you know by tomorrow. More to come stay tuned. Loss of a Good Man, Rod Reagan ROCC and ROSCO member passes away.

Everyone, I wanted to pass on the news that Ed Fenton shared with me this evening. Member of ROCC and ROSCO (Orangeburgs NAR section) Rod Reagan passed away Saturday afternoon. According to information on a thread from the Tripoli SC website (www.tripolisc.org) he had apparently been ill for a while. He was very active with Orangeburg group and has been very instrumental in the formation of ROSCO (Their NAR section) He lived in Greenville,SC and traveled up on occasion to our launches. He truly enjoyed rocketry for what it was.

June Launch set to 4th Weekend - June 25th-26th

****Revised**** The launch has been moved back to the 4th weekend, the June 25th-26th weekend. I spoke to Kip Thursday night and he has not taken the Winter Wheat out of the field yet. He expects to get it by middle of week next week. He did let me know that Velvet (Kip's sister) has actually planted Soy Beans in on the North field so that is good news. There is a bit of bad news, his corn he planted in the south field from the road up to the creek is already up to knee to waist high. That is only a 1/4 of that front area and the way the prevailing winds are should not cause much problem. I just wanted to let you know we will have some corn to deal with. I plan on being there this weekend to pick up some stuff from the silo for a demo. I will try to talk a vendor in to coming next weekend, it will depend on the prior commentments. I would also like to have our Spring-Summer Campout launch this time to, so plan on camping if you can. One other note, due to the shourt turn-around time from Wheat and Barley to Soy-Beans we may try to have the July launch Early, maybe the 9th-10th weekend, we will decide by the next launch. Thanks, Ralph Roberts Note: If anyone is interested in renting the Farm House there at 16620 Hopewell Church Rd, it is just about ready. Mrs. Williams has been working hard on the inside to get it ready to rent. Email me and I will get you in contact with her.

May 2005 Launch cancelled, Equipment Clean-up day instead

Sorry, no launch this month, no suitable fields available. Even though we were cleared to fly at the locust city park/elementary school the area they cleared of trees has not been planted in grass. There is no way we could walk through al the tree debris and mud puddles to retrieve rockets safely. So, we will cancel the launch and schedule an equipment clean-up day at the farm to get ready for next month's launch back at the farm. Lets plan on the equipment clean up for between 3-5 on Sat, the 21st. I will check with Kip to make sure it is OK.

Photo request

We've had a great number of flights in the last 2 months, but I have to admit I haven't been taking many photos at the launches in this time frame. Does anyone have photos that they can send me to post on the site? If you do, I'd love to have 'em. Please, if you do, send them to my g-mail account (it's got a 2 GIGAbyte mail box on it) at: rocketrycarolina@gmail.com. Thanks so much and be sure to send me credit info so I can get the credit lines right! Thanks, Doc Russell

April Launch Annoucement (Read Carefully) (Revised)

The April Launch is a go for the Farm with limitations (April 16th and 17th) We will have to setup nearest to the areas of the field that are not getting close to harvesting. This means moving all the way to the back of the runway. This is per Kip tonight. The problem is, there is little room to the south and west for recovery. I would strongly recommend cutting your altitude and power levels due to recovery area. Note There is a huge field to the North and Northeast, you just have to hope the rockets don't windcock or rodwhip in the wrong direction. I will meet with Kip early Saturday morning to evaluate the best place for setup. We will need to keep everyone out of the fields except those recovering their rockets. Let's limit the helpers. Also note the Wheat in some places may be Knee deep. Long pants are recommended. Don't fly small rockets such as Ninjas and Swifts that can't hold large streamers they will fall down into the wheat and you will not be able to find them. Use big streamers and chutes so they lay up on top of the wheat. We will start the launch at 12:00 Noon. We will be running the launch from 12:00 Noon to 7:00PM each day. Setup at 11:30AM each day.
