We will provide a $10.00 gift card from HOBBYTOWN,USA for each contest and NAR ribbons and points will be awarded.
Update: Ken Allen will be here Saturday, not Sunday.
Doc has pictures of plans on the site, you can look them up in the NAR Contest book on the NAR website www.nar.org.
For fun we may throw in a spot landing contest for some kits or motors, no Nar points.
The 2006 TARC National champions, Statesville Christian School and Doug Knight, will be on hand with the winning rocket for a small presentation. Time to be determined, however, they will share their story. This should be something to get this year's competitors fired up. Doug, confirm times when you all will be at the launch.
Camping is allowed, if you want to.
Weather as of Monday night : Saturday High 58, low Sunday Morning 34, Sunday's High 60, light westerly winds.
Camping notes:
Will need to check with Kip on where we can build fires, above ground fire pits would be best.
It gets very damp there, keep rockets and gear in your car as close to Sundown as possible, dew will fall fast there.
Bring telescopes if you want it is very dark. I will hang out as long as I can to enjoy everybody's food and drink.
Personal note: Due to the time change, I need to do some work Sunday morning, So I will not be camping, also too cold to Cadillac camp. I should arrive by 9:00-9:15 Sunday. Let me know if any other club officer will be available Sunday AM early to start things off, if not we may need to delay the start on Sunday.
Brent Johnson from Hobbytown USA, Mooresville, NC will be there Saturday Oct 28th
Ken Allen from Performance hobbies will be here on the Sunday Oct 29th Saturday, Oct. 28th (due to a conflict with hunters using the Battleboro launch field on Saturday). Please make orders with him prior to the launch.
There may be a 3rd vendor but details still to come, hopefully by the Friday.
A Porta-Jon from A.L. Lowder out of Albemarle has been ordered and will be delivered Wednesday or Friday, They gave us a little better rate than Porta-Jon of Monroe.
My brother Dan Roberts has volunteered to run the Grill for us. So we will have the standard Burgers, dogs, chips, drinks fro sale.
John - Go ahead and secure the waivers for both days for this weekend. including Sunday morning and let me know ASAP.
We need as many people as we can to make our flyer fee goal. Last year we did pretty good, but we could have done better.
We need everyone and their donations so please contribute if you fly. Remember our recommended donation is $8.00-$10.00 per flyer per day, families with lots of young flyers maybe a $10.00 donation would be good. Again, these are recommendations not harden rule yet. The requested weekend land fee from the land owner is $250, so we need everyone to drop a little something in the jar.
Also we have to pay the Porta-Jon fee. That is an extra $74.90 a month. To keep us from going broke we need $325.00 a weekend. That's only about 18-20 flyers a day.
We are kicking off the 2006-2007 flying season so go ahead and renew you memberships if you can. We still have some old T-Shirts and we have Mark Ferrell working on a new design which he will be showing us this weekend. He is a screen printer and will be able to give us a better deal on shirts. If approved hopefully we can have those soon, Mark let us know.
Anyone needing to certify, please contact me ahead of time. Todd Haring or Terry Baucom can arrange to have the Level 2 NAR test delivered to the field and we can have others administer the test.
Doc - Don't forget the leads, if need be, I can pickup before Saturday.
Doc and Brad, don't forget the contest stuff, flight cards, work sheets, stop watches. Let me know If I need to bring something.
Plus - Also see the NAR and TRIPOLI websites as there is an important announcement from HQ. It requires a letter writing campaign that is due by Nov 9th.
Thanks,
Ralph Roberts
